CEO, Wake Forest Baptist Health
Wake Forest Baptist has been caring for moms and delivering babies since 1923. That’s 95 years of knowledge and experience. Since 1974, prenatal care at our medical center in Winston-Salem has been limited to higher-risk pregnancies and births.
Since then, many of our patients, including our employees, have asked us repeatedly to bring back our prenatal, labor and delivery and post-partum care for all moms and babies. Having full labor and delivery services will allow us to continue providing the outstanding maternity care we are known for in the community.
We also understand that most moms want to deliver their babies close to home. That’s why we will continue to deliver babies at our hospitals in Lexington, High Point and Wilkes County. In late 2019, mothers will have another option in Winston-Salem.
The new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and labor and delivery facility will be beautiful and patient- and family-centered. They will feature the latest technology and equipment needed for all types of deliveries and neonatal care. If a baby should need emergency care, the expanded NICU, with private rooms, will be located just steps away within Brenner Children’s Hospital.
